Like most professional photographers, I’ve photographed many engagement photos, weddings, and family portraits in Charlottesville, Virginia. Over the years I’ve scouted out many locations and along the way, I’ve discovered some locations that have become my “go-tos’ ‘ because I know they will always give us photos with a little something special. Here are just six locations that I love the most! 

Boar’s Head 

Boar’s Head Resort is one of my favorite locations because not only does it have many different options for backgrounds, but it sits in the rolling Virginia countryside. The landscaping here is just incredible and perfect for photos in the summer and spring. All that countryside means there is plenty of room for the kiddos to have fun and run around. If you’re looking for a location that highlights how picturesque Virginia is, this is the place! 

Chiles Peach Orchard

Chiles Peach Orchard is a stunning orchard located right in Crozet, VA. I always recommend this location for an engagement session because you’re able to rent the space after it closes so your photos are exactly what they should be: photos of you and your significant other, not random people roaming the orchard. What’s more romantic than having an orchard to yourselves with beautiful views of the Blue Ridge mountains?!

Stinson Vineyards 

Similar to Chiles Peach Orchard, I always recommend Stinson Vineyards for an engagement session because of the stunning vines and views. This vineyard has such beautiful grounds that make it perfect for a photo session.

WaterPerry Farm

I’ll be honest I’m a little hesitant to share this location because it truly is a beautiful hidden gem… WaterPerry Farm located in Free Union, VA has probably the most amazing landscaping I’ve ever seen. It’s perfect for both family sessions or engagement sessions and if you’re anything like me, you won’t want to leave once you get there. This farm is set on one hundred acres and surrounded by sweeping Blue Ridge Mountain views and features ten acres of extraordinary gardens. Even if you’re not going for a photo session – I recommend taking a trip just to see how beautiful it is!

Contrast RVA

While you’ll usually find me outdoors for photography sessions, having an indoor location is a necessity. If you want to avoid inclement weather, the heat, or whatever else Contrast RVA is an elegant, yet simple studio. This location offering a big and beautiful airy themed space and is perfect for an indoor family session or indoor engagement session!

UVA Rotunda 

Last, but certainly not least. The UVA Rotunda is another perfect location for family or engagement photos – I am just obsessed with the grand white pillars the rotunda features. Though I love this location it can get very crowded in the afternoons if it’s a beautiful day so we will have to plan accordingly! 

Charlottesville, Virginia offers you incredible beauty, history, and all the comforts of a beautiful city located in a rural community. With the Blue Ridge Mountains standing tall at its back, it’s no wonder that Charlottesville I have multiple “go-to” spots around the area.
