Have you ever made a mistake that ended up turning into a wonderful opportunity? Fate seemed to have brought me to Brooke and Madison when I was photographing a spring formal at the University of Virginia. I had approached Brooke and Madison because I thought they were in the sorority group I was photographing. To my surprise, they were not, but they graciously invited me to capture their senior session, and without hesitation, I said absolutely!
A week after meeting Brooke and Madison we met again at The Lawn and Rotunda at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. Though it was super early we decided on a sunrise session so that we had nearly the entire place to ourselves and the soft golden morning light. A session with two best friends is always so much fun and Brooke and Madison were no exception to that. These two were practically like sisters and we had the best time doing photos together, solo shots, and outfit changes. With any session, I love when people bring something personal with them; Brooke brought a pink stole as a touching tribute to her mother, who’s bravely fighting breast cancer. It was a subtle yet profoundly beautiful gesture in honor of her mom.
In the world of photography, serendipitous moments often lead to some of the most cherished memories. My mistake in approaching Brooke and Madison was one such beautiful accident that led to the opportunity to capture the essence of friendship and accomplishments.
